Start at the confirmed base
Your reservation details and the team establish where and when to meet. HMH operates from bases on the Jackson and Victor sides of its mountain country, so check the address rather than assuming every departure uses the same location.
If you have arranged powder ski rentals, ask how fitting fits into the morning. Bring your boots and the personal equipment you have discussed with reservations.
The briefing comes before the first flight
The team introduces the provided avalanche equipment and the procedures for moving around the helicopter. HMH lists a transceiver, airbag pack, shovel, probe and radio as part of its equipment.
Listen closely and ask questions. The briefing is where the day's professionals establish the actual procedures. An online description is not a replacement for their instructions.
Follow the guide's plan
The pilot and guides manage the flying and terrain decisions. Once on the snow, the group follows the guide through terrain selected with conditions and ability in mind. Each part of the day comes from those decisions.
The experience includes the flight, the skiing or riding and time with the people in your group. Lunch and the practical rhythm are arranged by the team within the operating day.
Keep the expectations grounded
Confirm the current trip format, inclusions and terms before booking. The number of runs or amount of flying should come from your actual reservation, rather than a figure copied from an older page.
Snow and weather are part of being in the mountains. Bring the skills the trip requires, arrive prepared and let the operating team explain the day you are about to have.
Before your departure
Review the trip-planning details and the heli-skiing FAQs. The interactive guest packing checklist helps keep equipment and arrival details in one place while you get ready.
